Tennessee Department of Health Offers Booster Dose of Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine


Department of Health from TennesseeNashville, Tennessee – The Tennessee Department of Health has started offering booster doses of the COVID-19 coronavirus vaccine to certain populations.

A single booster dose of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 coronavirus vaccine can be given to people who meet the following criteria:

  • People 65 years of age and older and residents of long-term care facilities should be reminded of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 coronavirus vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series,
  • People aged 50 to 64 with underlying health conditions should be reminded of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 coronavirus vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series,
  • People aged 18 to 49 with underlying health conditions may be boosted with Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 coronavirus vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series, depending on their benefits and individual risks, and
  • Individuals aged 18 to 64 who are at increased risk of exposure and transmission to the COVID-19 coronavirus due to a professional or institutional setting may receive a booster of the COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer-BioNTech for at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series, depending on their individual benefits and risks.

Local state health departments will administer the booster dose. Information on appointment availability is available at https://covid19.tn.gov/covid-19-vaccines/availability/. Appointments are not necessary.

The Federal Pharmacy Partnership (FPP) Long Term Care (LTC) program facilitates on-site vaccination of residents of long-term care facilities.

Additional vaccine suppliers offering the Pfizer vaccine can be found by visiting http://www.vaccines.gov. Patients do not need to prove their diagnosis or medical condition to be eligible for the booster dose.
